Connoisseurs are more likely to remember Unic trucks than the Pw brand Unic. Its founder, Georges Richard, had already started building cars with his brother Maxime in 1897. The talented designer Henri Brasier joined them in 1901; the Richard-Brasier brand was created in 1903/04. But then Brasier founded his own brand, while Georges Richard merged his share into the Société des Anciens Etablissements Georges Richard in Puteaux, Seine. The new brand name Unic referred to the single-model strategy with a 1.8 L two-cylinder engine. But as early as 1907, a 1945 cc four-cylinder model was added, which was also delivered to London as a cab and, like the Renault cabs, played an important role during the First World War as a troop transporter for the Battle of the Marne.
