In contrast to many other companies, Scuderia Azzurra consistently focuses on its own vehicles and does not carry out contract restorations. It therefore bears the financial risk itself. Restorations are not financially worthwhile, is a much-heard saying among classic car owners. And this "wisdom" is probably true in most cases. But a few men with gasoline in their blood have set out to prove otherwise. The company they have founded is called "Scuderia Azzurra". Matthias Hinz restored his own Lancia Flaminia a few years ago. And he learned in the process that not everything always goes perfectly, even in the case of popular businesses. The work became increasingly expensive and the results were not always convincing straight away. There had to be a better way! Hinz looked around and found craftsmen in his area - he lived in Portugal for work reasons - who really knew their stuff. They had mastered the art of providing aluminum sheet with the right curves without a negative form, welding it and assembling it into a car body. He came across saddlers who treated leather with the necessary love and were able to rebuild seats as they once left the factory. And he began working with mechanics who shared his love of the technical intricacies of old engines and were able to rebuild an inline six-cylinder or a V8 from scratch.
