RM/Sotheby's was also forced to find an alternative due to the cancellation of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elégance. From August 10 to August 15, 2020, 109 classic cars (including two motorcycles) were therefore auctioned online. The total estimated value was around USD 52.5 million, spread over 107 cars and two motorcycles. There are also some automobilia. On average, the vehicles are around 53 years old. 22 percent of the lots were offered without a reserve price, mainly the cheaper cars. One exception, however, was the BMW M1 Procar from 1980, estimated at USD 600,000 to 800,000. Here, too, no minimum bid was demanded, and observers wondered whether this risk would pay off.
