What do August Horch, Louis Chevrolet and the Maserati brothers have in common? They had all lost the naming rights to the car brands they had founded under their family name. They therefore had to find other brand names for their new start-ups: Audi, Frontenac and Osca. The latter name was derived in 1947 from the initials of Officine Specializzate Costruzioni Automobili. However, Osca never achieved the Maserati nimbus. But the small brand in Bologna also built top-class racing cars. From the 1950s onwards, road-going coupés and convertibles were also produced. The 1500 Cabriolet model introduced by Fiat in 1960 with a 1.5-liter twin-camshaft engine from Osca became famous.
