Summary
The range of vehicles that the Oldtimer Gallery put under the hammer on October 12, 2024 was as varied and extensive as ever. 93 cars and nine motorcycles were looking for a new owner. Four-fifths were sold immediately or under reserve, finding a new garage for just over CHF 18,000 on average. There was no shortage of positive surprises, but some buyers were also able to find real bargains. Preview (beginning of the article)
The weather was almost late autumn on October 12, 2024, when the annual autumn auction at the Oldtimer Galerie in Toffen began punctually at 13:30. There was no question of barbecuing sausages outside, even though it only started to rain later in the day. However, the circumstances did not diminish interest in the auction at all, on the contrary. In the "Saal" in Toffen, an estimated 250 to 300 interested parties and observers waited eagerly for the auction to begin; on "Invaluable", the online platform for bidding, over 600 observers took part virtually and not infrequently won the bid. Of the 102 vehicles on offer, nine of which were motorcycles/scooters, 63 were ultimately sold outright, while negotiations are still open for a further 19, as they were knocked down "under reserve". Assuming a renegotiation success rate of 50%, this could lead to a sales rate of 71%. However, a good completion rate was also to be expected due to the comparatively high no-reserve share of 46%.
