Summary
The autumn auction in Toffen had to compensate for the pandemic-related absences of Lucerne and Gstaad for the classic car gallery, and the range presented was correspondingly large and varied, with 105 cars, 14 two-wheelers and a truck. The vehicles with an average age of 46 years were worth almost seven million. A total of 52 percent were sold outright, with a further 30 percent sold under reserve. While fewer bidders were able to be on site due to coronavirus, the internet became the most important channel. Written pre-bids were also more important than usual. The atmosphere on site was good and after around 5.5 hours, the last lot was knocked down. Many of the most valuable vehicles, including the Lamborghini Miura, an Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint Coupé and a Maserati Bora, could only be sold under reserve. This auction report gives an impression of the atmosphere on site and analyzes the results in detail. All motorized vehicles are also shown in the picture.

Preview (beginning of the article)
Nevertheless, the event on October 17, 2020 was not quite like other Toffen auctions, despite on-site bidding. Switzerland experienced a sharp increase in coronavirus infections in mid-October and Reinhard Schmidlin and his team probably did not know until shortly before the auction began on Saturday afternoon whether it would be possible to hold the auction as planned. But everything went as planned. The number of visitors on site was limited to 275 people, which ensured the necessary physical distance between participants. Masks were worn and there was no outdoor catering. As a result, it was mainly people who were really interested in the auction or the vehicles on offer who were on site, while observers with no intention of buying tended to stay at home. They were offered a well-functioning live stream.
