Preview (beginning of the article)
The weather was appropriate for the occasion on March 21, 2026, the beginning of spring, and the bidding hall in Toffen filled up from 13:00 until hardly a chair was left empty. The eager bidders of vintage and classic cars came to bid for one (or more) of the 87 vehicles, including 14 mopeds and motorcycles. The vehicles had been valued in advance at a total of almost CHF 2.7 million, with no minimum bid required to purchase 46% of them. "Bargain alert," commented auctioneer Serge Stotzer several times. The atmosphere in the hall in Toffen was relaxed and tidy, and the variety of vehicles on offer had brought a wide range of people to the "Gürbetal". Those who did not want to travel could also bid via the Internet. And many did, which is why quite a few cars were sold via Invaluable. The visitors' age mix seemed to be greater than in previous auctions, and some younger cars certainly contributed to this.
