The organizers are not lacking in confidence. "The I.C.E. St. Moritz, an International Concours of Elégance, was launched in 2019 by Marco Makaus and has created an unprecedented concept in the world of beauty competitions. A unique fusion of art and sport, both static and dynamic, in a unique location. The event is inextricably linked to the lake on which it takes place and has always been held with great respect for the environmental and natural heritage of the Engadin. The participating cars are carefully selected and public access is specifically restricted in order to protect their inestimable value. A village is created around the Parc Fermé, an atmospheric open-air museum with amazing models that attracts the attention of visitors, car enthusiasts and media from all over the world who take part in the event," writes the organization of The I.C.E. St. Moritz.

However, it is not so easy for the media to actually take part. In some cases, journalists are treated almost like lepers. This is a missed opportunity, because the photographers would naturally be particularly motivated to create extraordinary memories if the conditions were as good as on February 21 and 22, 2025 in St. Moritz, i.e. magnificent surroundings, fantastic cars and optimal and diverse weather conditions.
Static and dynamic
On Friday, the cars will only be on display, but only on Saturday will there be real driving and not just two laps.
The numerous fans then enjoy above all those drivers who drive their cars across the snow in a really skillful manner. Every now and then there is a spin, but real slips are rare, 2025 hits the beautiful Maserati 200 SI ( see picture story ) .
High level
The extremely high standard of the vehicles, which are among the most important in the history of international automotive engineering, makes the jury's assessment extremely difficult.
In the end, the Bugatti T59 from 1934 deservedly won the race on February 22, 2025 and not only won the "Best of Show" but also the "Open Wheels" prize, a sculpture designed by renowned architect Lord Norman Foster. He explains: "As a designer, I have realized works ranging from very small products to the largest structures and master plans. But it is always a pleasure to be challenged by something completely new and creating a trophy was a first for me. It was a great honor to embody the spirit of St. Moritz with the ICE event in style and elegance."
Unique
A careful selection of special cars against a unique backdrop is what makes this event so appealing. Of course, there is also the whole lifestyle of St. Moritz, which also brings with it a lot of elitism.

If the media now take a little more care, the coverage will also become more comprehensive and interesting. If you are one of only three Swiss reporters from the scene, then you are not satisfied with an offered balloon flight somewhere in the Engadine. You just want to be able to do your job properly.
