Ferruccio Lamborghini once conquered the world with the Miura super sports car, a masterpiece by Marcello Gandini. The year was 1966 and Gandini was just 28 years old at the time. But even then it was clear that a lot could still be expected from the young man. Today, Gandini is regarded as one of the greatest car designers of the twentieth century. Together with Giorgetto Giugiaro, Leonardo Fioravanti, Battista Pinin Farina and Giovanni Michelotti, he represents the cream of all those creatively gifted individuals who helped the Italian car body to achieve world renown. Gandini was born in Turin on August 26, 1938. He was not born into the design trade. His father Marco Gandini was full of hope that his son would one day become an orchestra conductor like him, or at least find his future in art or literature.
