Anyone who was allowed to call themselves the first official citizen of KDF-Stadt (later Wolfsburg) and was the 36th founding member of the Volkswagen project under Prof. Porsche could truly call themselves a VW fanatic. It was then probably a matter of course to still be active in the Volkswagen field 40 years later and enjoy a worldwide reputation. This was all true of Karl Meier, the founder of the accessories company "Kamei". His career began before the war in the Opel factories, where he designed interiors - his specialty. He then moved to the heathlands of Braunschweig, where he helped lay the foundations for the most popular car in the world, the Volkswagen. After the war, however, he was unable to reach an agreement with the British occupying forces and left the VW factories. He immediately started working independently in a hut not far from the VW factory. Using only scissors, a needle, some thread and fabric, he began to refit the interiors of cars damaged during the war. This laid the foundation for the company "Karl Meier, Auto-Komfort".
