True to the motto "now I'll help myself", courses are held in Chur every now and then to give VW Type 2 owners (T1 or T2) a better technical understanding of their little treasure, to help them in the event of a breakdown and to teach experienced connoisseurs how to dismantle and reassemble the air-cooled boxer engine. Dieter Korp's books "Jetzt helfe ich mir selbst" were legendary in the sixties and seventies. These reference books were available for various types of vehicle with the subtitles: "Saves money and time", "Preserves the value of the car", "Helps to repair breakdowns" or "Prevents workshop hassle", and were almost indispensable for DIY enthusiasts. The hippie bus with the totally mature and stable air-cooled Beetle boxer engine was and is actually unstoppable, but sources of error can still creep in and prevent it from starting or continuing its journey. What's wrong with it? Why won't it start? And what now?
