On May 27, 1994, Jean-Louis Clavere, Jean-Pierre Rivals, Jean Ribot and Jean-Jacques Lascombe set off on a trip around the world in the Morgan 4/4. They were joined by documentary filmmaker Gérard Rossignol, to whom we owe the fact that today, 31 years later, we can look back on this adventurous journey. What began as a light-hearted discussion in a small French pub gradually became a solid plan: to circumnavigate the world in a Morgan 4/4. With the support of the Morgan factory in Malvern, three cars - affectionately christened Elliott, Kalliste and Diou Biban by their drivers - were prepared for the grueling journey. They were raised and fitted with reinforced underbody protection for use on rough terrain. They were also fitted with larger tanks and a trailer coupling to tow tents, spare parts, clothes and medicines. The four friends had an important mission on their way: to bring AIDS and hepatitis test material and medicines for newborn babies to St. Petersburg.
