Gooding & Co Amelia Island 2022 - Talbot record and expensive nineties cars
Summary
Gooding & Company put 99 cars worth over USD 70 million under the hammer at the Concours d'Elégance Amelia Island on March 4, 2022. The flagship was a Talbot-Lago T150-C-SS, which fulfilled the hopes placed in it with a sales price of USD 13.4 million. While pre-war cars were otherwise less successful, the BMW M3 and Porsche models from the 1990s shone, but cars from the 1950s to 1970s were also able to outperform their estimates. This auction review analyzes the results and shows the vehicles in pictures.

Preview (beginning of the article)
At first glance, the offer that Gooding & Company wanted to auction off on March 4, 2022 in Amelia Island seemed rather unbalanced. Cars with Porsche, BMW or Ferrari badges made up almost two thirds of the lot list. But if you took a closer look, you realized that there was no shortage of attractive vehicles from other brands either. The total value of the cars was estimated at USD 72.5 million, with 48 percent of the lots going under the hammer without a reserve price. The sales quota at the well-attended auction was ultimately 92 percent with 91 cars sold, with each car fetching USD 672,065. The cars were driven up and presented on stage.
