The German car industry flourishes at the beginning of the fifties After a long break caused by the war, the economy and politics, the first new International Motor Show opened its doors in Frankfurt in the spring of 1951. German industry, and vehicle production in particular, had really blossomed since the Second World War. At the end of 1950, the vehicle density was 80 inhabitants per passenger car, and the number of vehicles had grown from 439,000 to 600,000 units in one year. In addition, German vehicle manufacturers had exported 67,000 cars in 1950, while 5,400 foreign cars had been imported in the same period.
