Summary
As usual, Bonhams completed the sale of 139 vehicles in one day on August 19, 2022 as part of Pebble Beach Week at the Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, California. The total value of the vehicles had been estimated at over USD 48 million, but "only" USD 27 million was realized. Some of the most valuable cars fell by the wayside, while bids for others were up to 3.6 times the estimate. This auction review analyzes the results, describes the atmosphere on site and shows all the vehicles in pictures.

Preview (beginning of the article)
On the Friday before the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elégance, Bonhams invited its customers and bidders around the world to the Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel on August 19, 2022, to auction 139 vehicles, including three motorcycles and a children's car. The total value of the lots was estimated at over USD 48 million, but half of them could be purchased without a minimum bid. On average, bidders offered 90 percent of the median estimate, with the total of all bids amounting to USD 41 million. It was possible to sell 86 percent of the vehicles, which were on average almost 65 years old. Although Porsche was significantly more strongly represented at Bonhams than Mercedes-Benz with 22 cars, the sales result was better than that of the competitors from Zuffenhausen.
