Preview (beginning of the article)
The Bonhams auction is as much a part of Rétromobile Week as a croissant with coffee in Paris. On February 1, 2024, 56 cars, 33 motorcycles and some automobilia went under the hammer for the last time at the Grand Palais Éphémère near the Eiffel Tower. Next year, the event will return to the "real" Grand Palais; the Grand Palais Éphémère, which was needed during the renovation of the eponymous building, will then be dismantled. It's a shame really, because the "Éphémère" certainly didn't lack charm and it was even better to heat. The room was well used and the auction, led by Maarten Ten Holder and Malcom Barber, was well attended.
