Summary
As every year, Bonhams organized an auction on the occasion of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, at which 60 cars and over 100 automobilia were offered for sale on 9 July 2021. The total value of the cars was estimated at over GBP 16 million, but only just under half that amount was realized for the vehicles. This was due to the fact that some high-priced lots could not be sold, while others found new owners well below the estimates. Perhaps the action on Castle Hill and the anticipation of the European Championship final were too much of a distraction? This auction review analyzes the results and shows the vehicles in pictures.

Preview (beginning of the article)
The Goodwood Festival of Speed provided the occasion for one of the biggest Bonhams auctions of the year on July 9, 2021. 60 cars were offered alongside over 100 automobilia, model cars and children's cars. The cars were on average just over 50 years old and priced at £261,790. Seven of the vehicles were offered without a reserve price. 23 brands were represented with the 60 cars remaining on offer (two had previously been withdrawn). Aston Martin had the strongest presence with a total of 11 cars, followed by Ferrari (9), Rolls-Royce (5) and Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz (4 each). With AC, Lagonda, Ogle and Riley, less frequently offered cars were also represented; in any case, the offer appeared very diverse with a mixture of racing cars, Granturismo vehicles and exotic cars.
