Artcurial Paris 2017 - more is not always more
Summary
Full house, high expectations, good atmosphere. This is how the Artcurial auction at the Rétromobile began on February 10, 2017. Auctioneer Hervé Poulain spent around eight hours swinging the hammer over 154 vehicles, including a unique Dino 206P Berlinetta Speciale and a Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa Scaglietti, as well as many French exotics and international racing classics. Things went worse than ever before, the estimated values could not be achieved in many cases, but with 76% of the vehicles sold, the result is impressive. This report describes the atmosphere in the packed hall, shows many of the cars in pictures and lists all the highest bids and sales prices.

Expectations are always high before the Rétromobile Paris. What kind of sensation can Artcurial pull off? How will the auction house provide surprises this year? Well, for 2017, Artcurial is unlikely to have managed to surpass the auction of the Baillon collection in 2015 and the sensational Ferrari in 2016. Which is not to say that the people around Hervé Poulain did not put together an interesting offer, albeit a large one. Was it too big? 154 vehicles, including some motorcycles, scooters, a Solex and a tractor, were to find new owners on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 14:00, a truly mammoth event. The auction actually lasted almost eight hours, which was too long for many visitors. They left the hall early and were unable to see all the vehicles with a total value of around EUR 57 or CHF 61 million.
