André Lurton was a war hero. Born on October 4, 1924, he joined the French army in 1944 and was at the forefront of the liberation of France and Alsace. After the war, he returned to his home estate Château Bonnet and became a passionate and successful winemaker, producing many outstanding Bordeaux wines (the château is located near Bordeaux). Lurton not only enjoyed grapes and agricultural produce, but also technology and mechanics. If I hadn't become a winegrower, then a mechanic, he is said to have once said. From the mid-nineties, he began to build up a collection of vehicles that would contain everything that had been important to his family and himself. Accordingly, the collection housed at Château Bonnet consisted of many automobiles, but also military vehicles and tractors. There were 80 vehicles in total and they went under the hammer on September 27, 2020, around a year after Lorton's death.
