Before the race...
It was already clear in qualifying that the top was dominated by the well-known protagonists on NSU, Mini and Simca.
Andreas Vielgut (NSU) came out on top in practice ahead of Herbert Wein Jr. (Mini) and Christoph Wilde (Simca).
Race 1 at a summery 30 degrees
At the start of Race 1, which took place in temperatures of almost 30 degrees Celsius, Vielgut was taken by surprise by Wein jr. and Wilde, who were behind him. The three of them engaged in a spectacular battle that lasted several laps. However, the polesitter had to retire after 4 laps due to a technical defect.
Herbert Wein Jr. inherited the victory in his fast Mini. Christoph Wilde followed in 2nd place with a gap of just 2.8 seconds in his Simca. The podium was completed by Maximilian Koch in an NSU.
The top three finishers were also the division winners of the British Car Trophy, the Histo Cup 1300 and the NSU TT Trophy.
The fastest Abarth in the field was Christoph Hürter in his Fiat 127.
Technical problems...
After the first race of the Abarth Coppa Mille, the often-mentioned family cohesion of the "Battle of the Dwarves" became apparent. A defective starter caused serious problems for Hubert Nagl and Sepp Schichl had to retire due to gearbox problems.
...and solutions
So that at least Nagl could start the second race with his Abarth 1000 TC, S. Schichl quickly removed his starter motor to make it available to his rival Nagl.
The latter thanked him with a second place in his class. Christoph Hürter was once again the winner of the Abarth Coppa Mille with his Fiat 127.
With Christoph Wilde in a Simca and Herbert Wein Jr. in his Mini, the previous day's winners also confirmed their division dominance.
The surprise
Only the NSU TT Trophy saw a new winner on Saturday. Andreas Vielgut, who started from the back of the field, drove ahead of the pack and was ultimately crowned the winner of the NSU TT Trophy.
With several guest starters from the Netherlands, as well as from the friendly HAIGO, almost 50 small racing cars set off on the hunt for points on both race days.
So that the summer break until the next race in neighboring Zandvoort is not too long, the dwarves will meet again in August for their small car meeting "Enjoy" at Raceway Meppen .
Anyone who has the time and inclination should make their way to Meppen in northern Germany on the second weekend in August and see the "dwarves" in person.
As always, all reports on the dwarves can be found in the dedicated topic channel.
