The Luzzone hill climb, which had been held a week ago in the Valle del Sole, the Blenio Valley, counted as a championship race for the national title for the series touring, touring and racing cars on the one hand, and as a race for the European Championship for the Formula Ford cars on the other. With over 200 participants, the Locarno section of the ACS had an immense amount of organizing to do. The two favorites, Xavier Perrot and Sigi Lang, fought it out for the day's victory, with Perrot winning the race thanks to two balanced runs. Peter Boner crossed the finish line with his McLaren-Oldsmobile as the winner of the racing car category over 1600 cc. The winner of the most European Championship points in the Formula Ford category was Gerry Birrel in a Crossle-16-F. Sigi Lang in his Porsche 907 was only just able to snatch victory on the day. However, he won the sports car category over 1600 cc with an hourly average of 88.236 km. The fastest driver of the day was Xavier Perrot from Zurich in a Brabham F-2 racing car. Charles Ramu-Caccia in a Ford Escort was unbeatable in the 1300-1600 cc special touring car category.
