The historic town of Laufen in Basellandschaft provided the backdrop for the first Oldtimer-Messe-Laufen (OML for short) over the weekend of May 21 and 22, 2016.
Located close to the language and national border, Laufen is easy to reach from all directions via beautiful roads and pass routes. Many visitors took advantage of this to take a ride on their classic bikes. The vintage car parking lot (directly in front of the hall) was very busy on both days of the fair. The constantly changing additional exhibition was worth a visit in itself.
Competence center for classic and vintage cars
The squadra rotberg was responsible for organizing the event and transformed the ice rink and its immediate surroundings into a small center of excellence for vintage and classic cars and motorcycles. The pleasant ambience of the wooden structure provided the ideal setting for visitors and exhibitors.
At the center of the trade fair, squadra rotberg showed where its origins lie: A racing show with exclusive racing cars and racing bikes sent visitors into raptures. Many of the stands were also decorated with racing cars by the exhibitors, which certainly added that certain something to this new trade fair. There was Jo Vonlanthen's former Formula 2 racing car on display, for example, or a JWF Milano GT that once won the hill climb championship in Australia.
With brand clubs
As brand clubs, the Swiss Riley Club for cars and the MV-Agusta Club Switzerland for motorcycles each had their own club stand.
The event, which was organized with a great deal of passion, attracted more than 1500 visitors, not least thanks to moderate admission prices, which also included a free drink and free parking.
A classic car fair is to be organized again in Laufen in 2017, and it will be interesting to see what the organizers have planned for the second edition ...
