Lenzerheide Motor Classics 2011 with a broad starting field (preview)
Summary
The Lenzerheide Motor Classics will take place for the first time on the weekend of July 2-3, 2011. The event is attracting a lot of interest as it is a new type of hill climb. It runs in a circle. This offers considerable advantages for spectators and drivers alike. The former see the vehicles more often and at shorter intervals, while the latter can better hone their cornering technique. The starting grid contains a few treats, some of which are shown in the photo gallery. Not only will two Maserati monoposti be doing their laps, but also a whole series of formula cars that are otherwise rarely seen. But there will also be a wide variety of GT cars, from the BMW 320 according to Group 5 regulations to the Lancia Stratos and the Simca Rallye III. And, of course, the AC Cobra will not be missing, nor will a whole horde of Porsche Carrera models. The event will also be spiced up by a field of motorcyclists, whose driving skills are sure to cause the odd "ah" and "oh". The oldest vehicle in the field is the American La France from 1917, closely followed by a Ford T Racer from 1918. At the other end of the scale is an Alfa Romeo SZ from 1991, just twenty years old, but already a rarity today. There is plenty on offer for the public, including an Oldies Night on Saturday evening. And according to the latest forecasts, even the Graubünden weather gods should play along.
