After last year's great success, the second Chantilly Arts & Elégance Richard Mille took place on September 6 just outside Paris. The event is intended to help preserve the French tradition of the Concours d'Elégance, which dates back to the 1920s.
Success and stress
With 13,500 spectators, the 2015 event welcomed over a third more visitors than in 2014. That weekend was particularly stressful for the international automotive high society, as Concours were also held in Scotland and England. The private jet was the only option if you didn't want to miss anything.
In addition, you could also bid for very exquisite cars at Bonhams , at least if you could call a black suit and bow tie your own.
Something for everyone
Numerous workshops and many other special attractions attracted not only motor fans but also many families. The weather also played along and so the 100 exceptional vehicles taking part in the Concours d'Etat could be admired in glorious sunshine, as could the 40 clubs competing for the Club Grand Prix prize.
Large vehicle show
Around 850 vehicles from all over the world were presented on Saturday, and the numerous collectors who came not only from all over Europe but also from Asia and the USA certainly contributed to this high number.
As a result, the event was able to secure its place among the international blue ribbon automobile concours for the second time.
Beautiful and special vehicles
The people around Peter Auto had come up with some special categories that you don't find at all beauty contests, e.g. vehicles with European chassis and American engines, which was won by a Facel Vega HK 2. Another interesting category was the Citroën SM derivatives, in which the first prize went to a Citroën SM Mylord from 1975.
Another interesting Concours category was the grouping of "Voitures des Grandes Dames", i.e. vehicles that were once owned and driven by famous women such as Ursula Andress or Raquel Welch.
Award-winning condition
The Best of Show, chosen by an international jury that included Sandra Button, Adolfo Orsi, Paul Belmondo, Philip Kantor, Hans Matti, Gordon Murray, Rahim Aga Kahn and Michael Bock, was won by the Mercedes-Benz 500K Special Roadster 1936 from the Louwman Museum.
The VIVA prize was awarded to a 1939 Bugatti T57C. In the new concept car category, the BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage R was awarded first prize in the Concours d'Elégance.
And the club "Les Amis de Delage" won the coveted club award.
In 2016, the event will once again take place on the first weekend in September, and the date should be noted now: September 4, 2016.
