Preview (beginning of the article)
For the second time, Bonhams organized an auction on the occasion of the Chanilly Arts & Elégance Concours . On September 3, 2016, 28 vehicles with a value of around 13 million euros were offered without dress specifications. In front of a large audience, 16 cars finally found new owners, with the average price amounting to EUR 569,000 or CHF 623,000. Overall, the vehicles sold reached an average of 96 percent of the average estimate (including surcharge/commission). The BMW Z1 is slowly becoming the new auction favorite, as several examples have been sold at respectable prices over the last few months. At the Chantilly auction, a 1990 Z1 in the rare yellow livery also achieved the best result. At EUR 69,000 or CHF 75,617, the buyer paid over 50% more than the median estimate.
