Summary
Teardrop or Goutte d'Eau - the term is often overused in the context of Figoni and Falaschi. The reason is simple: a pre-war car with a teardrop shape by the French coachbuilder, who was known for his flamboyant style, always meant big money at auction. This led - can it be described as "natural"? - to a few more "teardrops" than were originally built. Chassis 90034 is undisputedly an original, however, and has a complete history to boot.

Well, the Talbot-Lago T150 C Goutte d'Eau offered by Broad Arrow Auctions as part of the Villa d'Este auction on May 25, 2025 can claim to be "the real deal", a genuine drophead car. The reason is relatively simple: its extensive history is completely known and the sheet metal of its two-door coupé body is almost all original - a top specimen. This leads to an estimate price that can be described as downright horrendous. Nevertheless - after reading the extensive story that Broad Arrow provides about the car - one is almost sobered by the comparatively conservative body shape of the 1938 car at first glance.
