Brakes better than it drives - Simca 1000 GLS in (historic) test
Summary
The headline is mean. But the Simca 1000 simply couldn't get rid of its pronounced tendency to oversteer. Together with the high crosswind sensitivity, this resulted in somewhat unrelaxed driving when not going straight ahead in a vacuum. On the other hand, the equipment, engine and brakes in this historic test report were very pleasing.

If anyone in Germany tends to give serious thought to the development of our road traffic, then it is certainly the case that the thinker has first looked around to see how other nations have mastered this problem. A vanishing minority look to France or Italy as examples worthy of imitation, but the majority look straight across the pond and, after the first cursory glance, already have the patent solution at the ready: mix up the traffic, only build cars from the middle class upwards! The scapegoats are usually the trucks and small cars, all of which are denied the right to exist, although differentiation is more necessary in the small class than in the larger cars.
