By the mid-sixties, the Renault Dauphine was already getting a bit long in the tooth. But although a successor, the Renault 8, was already on the market, the national government made no attempt to withdraw the "heir to the throne" from the range. And why should they? The cute little rear-engined saloon sold magnificently and only had one real weak point: the steering. In terms of driving performance and comfort, it continued to perform well. This extensively illustrated historical test report from 1965, supplemented with three sales brochures, provides a more detailed verdict.
