Summary
Objectively speaking, there wasn't much to be said for buying an Opel Tigra. It was less spacious than a Corsa, more expensive and even slower to accelerate. This article contains the following chapters
- Brave technology cheekily packaged
- The price of beauty
- A Tigra for its birthday

Splash! And it's gone. While cabs get in each other's way in New York's downtown traffic, the ceramic blue Opel Tigra simply dives into a puddle and under the traffic jam. Back on the surface, the blonde-haired driver takes off her swimming goggles, tips the water out of her sneakers and drives off. All that remains is a crowd of confused passers-by, cab drivers and traffic police officers, as well as a still immobile mass of yellow metal. The one-minute film in which Franziska van Almsick escapes the horde of yellow cabs with the help of her occasional submersible is one of the best-known commercials of the 1990s. Although you don't actually learn anything about the car. Motorization? Equipment? Price? Only boring people want to know that. But the Corsa Coupé was never intended for people who only wear creased jeans anyway. At least that's what another commercial claims. The message is actually quite simple: no car is as good for escaping the stresses of everyday life as the Opel Tigra.
