Loan agreement - Deutsche Fiat Aktiengesellschaft is loaning the Lancia Stratos, police registration number HN-RT 97, to the hobby editorial office in Stuttgart for test drives from January 21, '77 to February 4, '77." I pull out my pen, add my signature, and the Lancia Stratos is mine. For two weeks, i.e. fourteen days and nights, or even better: for 336 hours. Mentally absent-minded, I give the desired signature, skim the legal information again and get stuck at point II: "The vehicle may not be used for racing purposes, including any training drives," it says. Dear Fiat in-house lawyer, how could you do this to me? What on earth is the Stratos supposed to be used for? Am I supposed to fetch bread rolls in a car that already looks faster than a Porsche at 200 km/h when stationary? With a car that was uncompromisingly built to win races and rallies? That finally won the Monte Carlo Rally for the third time?
