Bertone originally wanted to call the car "Stratolimite" to illustrate how far removed the design was from others. Hardly any other designer prototype had caused as much of a stir as the Stratos HF, which Bertone presented at the 1970 Turin Motor Show. Bertone originally wanted to call the car "Stratolimite" to illustrate how far ahead the design was. However, this then became Stratos HF, with the "HF" referring to the engine from the Fulvia HF. The Stratos HF was only 84 cm high and completely dedicated to the wedge shape. Instead of an entrance door, you entered the vehicle through the front glazing. The hood above the mid-engine opened sideways from left to right. Ten super-flat lamps were intended to turn night into day.
