Summary
The saloon version of the Lancia Fulvia was produced much more frequently than the coupé version, but today you almost only see the coupé. As the Lancia Fulvia 2C, the "Berlina" combined quality, sportiness and suitability for everyday use. Even back then, observers disagreed as to whether it was considered beautiful. This driving report tells the story of the Lancia Fulvia saloon and shows it in current and historical pictures.

"Plop!". The door closes with a sound that inspires confidence. The engine wakes up reliably after turning and pressing the ignition key. First gear engages securely. Everything works as expected and probably hardly any differently than in 1967, when this Lancia Fulvia 2C left production in Turin. The blinker switch alone shows that the Italian manufacturer left nothing undone to guarantee almost eternal functional reliability. No wonder the press at the time spoke of a "new quality vehicle in the 1100 class". Lancia itself tried to make it clear that the Fulvia was a completely new design. The Fulvia saloon replaced the 110,000-strong Lancia Appia. Expectations were high. As with the Appia, the Fulvia was also named after an old Roman road, albeit a forgotten one, which led from Asti to Tortona and was primarily used for military purposes. The four-door Fulvia saloon was unveiled exactly 60 years ago in March 1963 at the Geneva Motor Show.
