Summary
The Lancia Fulvia Coupé was loved for its beauty and respected for its success in rallying. The latter was mainly due to the HF versions, which, with a displacement of 1.6 liters and 850 kg, were able to keep even larger and stronger opponents in check. This report portrays a Lancia Fulvia 1600 HF Fanalone, describes driving impressions and briefly summarizes the history of the Fulvia Coupé, which was built from 1965 to 1976. The article is supplemented by sales brochures and extensive historical images.

Preview (beginning of the article)
Co-driver Mario Mannucci shouts "right two, left full, ...", while Sandro Munari nimbly changes gears, clutches and brakes, accelerates at the same time and forces the Fulvia around the next bend. Of course, we are miles away from the talent of a Munari and nobody has settled into the passenger seat. Nevertheless, every drive in the Lancia Fulvia 1600 HF feels like a special rally stage, not least because of the screaming engine and the close meshing of car and road. In any case, it is great fun to chase the Fulvia, which has been modified to Group 4, through hairpin bends and narrow country lanes. The gears can be changed at lightning speed via the five-speed gearbox, and the rev counter needle twitches nimbly upwards.
