Summary
Five years after the takeover by Ford, Jaguar presented the first jointly developed model, the XJ 6 (X300). Almost everything had been improved, and the advertising spoke of the "perfect balance between innovation and tradition". The most striking feature was the four-eyed face, which led back to the beginnings of the XJ 6. This driving report is about a late 3.2-liter six-cylinder model and shows it in many pictures.

A Jaguar XJ 6 3.2 (X300 series) makes a classic car fan wonder. Actually, the best place to sit is in the rear, where its qualities really come into their own. On the other hand, as a youngtimer owner, you don't want to be driven, but would rather drive yourself, especially as very few of today's buyers want to afford a chauffeur. The Jaguar developers took around four years to develop a successor to the 240/340 and 420G series. The result was presented as the XJ 6 at the Paris Motor Show in October 1968. From 1972, the twelve-cylinder engine was also available in the elegant saloon, and one year later the Series II was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which had a much more modern look with higher bumpers and a new dashboard. Series III was then presented in 1979, gently renovated by Pininfarina and entirely in the traditional style.
