In 1982, the AR editors had the opportunity to put the Ford Capri Turbo through its paces. And they were quite positive about this car, because in terms of price/performance, hardly any competitor could hold a candle to the coupé, which was also pretty to look at in its 13th year of production. The test summary reads as follows: "There may be a whole range of newer models in the four-seater coupé class, but Ford has always managed to keep the Capri, which is now almost fourteen years old, competitive. This is also the case with the new turbo model, which offers performance, space and good driving characteristics at a very attractive price."

The release date of the Ford Capri Turbo is deceptive. Although the almost 190 hp new top-of-the-range version of the extremely popular coupé only made its debut a year ago and is also the first series-produced European Ford passenger car with an exhaust gas turbocharger, the Cologne-based company still has a great deal of knowledge about turbocharging: This is ensured by the experience of the US parent company, then the numerous assignments in racing and also the many years of experience with the turbocharger system of the Swiss engineer Michael May, which was specially designed in the sixties for retrofitting in the Ford V6 engine and still has many fans today.
