Of the three sports car models that Ferrari currently builds in small series of around 30 at a time, the Export 212 is the middle model. This two-seater, built as a sports car for the road and for participation in sports events for production vehicles, has a 2 1/2-liter twelve-cylinder engine, weighs a dry 800 kg and, with a power-to-weight ratio of less than 6 kg/hp, has the best power-to-weight ratio of all production sports cars with the exception of the larger Ferrari 340 America and the Cadillac-engined Allard. These were the details we knew about the green Roadster, which we took over from Ferrari for testing on May 16 of this year. Test manager D'Angelo, who was to familiarize us with the car, also informed us that the test car was only compressed to 7.6:1 at the request of the customer who had ordered it, thus delivering around 10 hp less than the 160 hp specified in the catalog, that the Vignale bodywork increased the weight of the car by around 60 kg and that the fuel tank was filled with super petrol with an octane rating of 80.
