Equipped as a coupé and convertible with an elegant and sweeping body, it attracted admiring glances. This has not really changed to this day. In 1940, a convertible was still called a cabriolet. And 55 hp was a high output for a car weighing a good 1.1 tons. And 125 km/h was a very sporty speed. Eighty years later, we see things somewhat differently, but the BMW 327 with its straight-six engine has lost hardly any of its appeal. The history of the six-cylinder BMW models began in 1933 with the Type 303, which not only had the new engine under the hood, but also featured a kidney grille. It still had a modest 1.2 liter displacement and 30 hp at 3500 rpm, but the foundation had been laid, especially as the 303 also introduced a new advanced tubular frame.
