BMW 3200 CS - Hans Stuck tests the Italian from Bavaria
Summary
In 1962, BMW presented the 3200 CS, which had been developed jointly with Bertone. The elegant coupé succeeded the 503/507 models, but served a different clientele. The magazine 'hobby' had the new car shown to it by racing driver Hans Stuck, who certainly let it fly. This article reproduces the restored original text from 1962 and shows the car in many historical photographs.

The phone rings: "Your registration Grainau!" "Hello, Hans Stuck, this is hobby. If our calculation is correct, then you are celebrating your fortieth anniversary as a racing driver these days?" Hans Stuck on the other end of the line laughs: "The hobby calculation is once again remarkably correct, because tomorrow is exactly the day that marks the fortieth anniversary of my first start. Do you want to congratulate me, or do you have something else on your mind?" "If it's not too much to ask, we'd like to go for a brisk drive with you on your anniversary day, in the BMW 'Bertone' ..." Old master Hans Stuck was not exactly enthusiastic at first, as he had promised his family a relaxing day at his beautiful home in Grainau. But then he was tempted by the task of showing hobby readers the new 'showpiece' of an age-old Bavarian sports car tradition 'trained in freedom', so to speak.
