Summary
At the end of 1969, British Leyland added the Austin/Morris 1300 GT to the ADO16 series. 68 hp did not turn the compact family car into a racing car, but it did make it a touring car suitable for long distances. You could overlook the weaknesses ... if you were an individualist. This article reproduces the wording of the historical test report and shows the car in many pictures and brochures from back then.

The British Leyland Group now only calls the Austin/Morris Mini the Mini (and produces it for us in Belgium), wants to do more business in Germany in future with the 1500 cc Maxi after an uninspiring start, has no high-flying German plans with MG and Triumph for the time being, cannot expect any German market miracles from the Austin/Morris 1800 and the Rovers like the Jaguars, so continues to rely on the Austin/Morris 1100 and 1300 in addition to the much sought-after Mini. In England and some export countries, these are mass models; here they offer exclusivity without exclusive prices: Compact cars with stylistic and technical appeal. Around 500 dealers, central importer (Brüggemann-Düsseldorf) for Austin and Morris together since 1968, the only difference between the brands is the trademark. New last fall was the. Austin/Morris 1300 GT, now also available in Germany, with a relatively short delivery time of eight weeks - you usually have to wait longer for the normal 1100 and 1300, and much longer for the Mini.
