Summary
Between 1951 and 1958, Carrozzeria Touring produced a coupé based on the shortened chassis of the Alfa Romeo 1900, which was initially called Sprint, then Super Sprint. Despite having fewer cylinders than the competition, the elegant coupé was able to compete with the greats of the time from Fiat (8V), Lancia (Aurelia B20 GT), Jaguar (XK 140) and Porsche (356). However, it was almost as expensive as a 300 SL and therefore remained rare. This driving report tells the story of the pretty coupé and shows it in historical and contemporary pictures, including a sound sample.

Preview (beginning of the article)
Four cylinders for the price of six or eight - that doesn't sound like an outstanding offer. But that is exactly what the Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint of the fifties offered. What may not sound very tempting on paper nevertheless convinced discerning car buyers, especially as the coupé came with a provocatively elegant Touring body and offered thoroughly competitive performance despite the lack of cylinders. It was 1948 when the Alfa Romeo engineers set about developing their first post-war design, which was to lead the company in Milan into the modern era, while the 6C 2500 was still reaping the rewards of pre-war developments.
