On August 17, 2016, over 50 collector's cars from all eras will gather for the annual Concours d'Elégance of the Zurich Classic Car Award on Bürkliplatz at the end of Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse. Situated between Paradeplatz and Lake Zurich, at the foot of the National Bank so to speak, it is hard to imagine a better location for a top-class concours.
In various classes, the certainly special cars built up to 1979 will be competing for beauty prizes. Among the prizes awarded are:
- Best Prewar Open - the most beautiful open pre-war car
- Best Prewar Closed - the most beautiful closed pre-war car
- Best prewar pre-1960 Open - the most beautiful open car up to 1960
- Best prewar pre-1960 Closed - the most beautiful closed car up to 1960
- Best prewar post-1960 Open - the most beautiful open car after 1960
- Best prewar post-1960 Closed - the most beautiful closed car after 1960
In addition to these traditional categories, there is also a class for racing cars, another for unrestored vehicles and a group with cars designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. As there is a huge choice here in particular, it is easy to imagine a VW Golf competing against a BMW 3200 CS and a Maserati Ghibli.
Another special category is the one with the racing cars, where you can look forward to the clash of different motorsport machines.
The public will also be asked for their "Public's Favorite" and of course there will also be a "Best of Show". The jury will mainly be made up of members of the press with a passion for classic cars.
Final entries are still being accepted. The planned participation of vehicles such as the Alvis TD, Fiat-Abarth 1000 TC, Fiat 2300, Jaguar XK 120, MG Y, Dodge Royal, Marcos GT 3 Litre, Lamborghini Miura and Stirling GT has already been announced.
On August 17, the event starts at around 09:00 and ends at 17:00.
