The second edition of the Arizona Concours d'Elegance will take place on January 11, 2015. It is the signature event of the Arizona Collector Car Auction Week in that region, which starts around this time.
Luxury hotel as a concours venue
The competition will be held in the courtyard area of the Arizona Biltmore Resort luxury hotel, which will create a cozy atmosphere during the typically mild and sunny winter season.
Own Pierce-Arrow class
The participants will be divided into 17 classes for the Concours and judged. Among the 80 selected entries, some vehicles and brands will stand out;
A very rare 1933 Silver Arrow from the American luxury brand Pierce-Arrow, which will form its own class at the 2015 Arizona Concours, will be taking part. It is one of five built and three still in existence.
The elegant vehicle appears very powerful, but its magnificent flowing lines create a feeling of lightness. The powerful V12 engine takes the saloon to a top speed of a whopping 115 mph.
The Carozzeria Ghia turns 100
Vehicles from the Italian and renowned Carozzeria Ghia, which will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2015, have also been given their own class. Some very special Ghia creations were entered in the 2015 Arizona Concours. For example, the 1953 Cadillac Series 62 Coupé made famous by Rita Hayworth, which was a gift to her from her husband, the wealthy Prince Ali Khan.
Other notable Ghia designs also invited to Phoenix include a beautiful 1954 Plymouth Explorer and an exotic 1954 Fiat 8V with an elegant body like no other. These and many more Ghia creations will be part of the 2015 Arizona Concours.
Wright vehicles as another highlight
Another class will be vehicles once owned by the famous architect and vehicle enthusiast Frank Lloyd Wright. Among the models on display will be a restored AC 16/80 "Ace" Roadster from 1937, which has now been lost from the public eye for around 40 years.
In addition, Ferraris built up to 1965 will form a separate class.
