The Zurich Classic Car Award (ZCCA) at Bürkliplatz has a tradition dating back more than ten years. Due to the square’s redesign in 2025, the organizers had to relocate to Zug, where they found the perfect exhibition space last year on the lakefront promenade in front of the State Chancellery.
With its lake views, location in the old town, and classic car-friendly traffic conditions, many participants hoped the event would continue in Zug. Since no agreement could be reached with the City of Zurich for 2026, the ZCCA—where the “Z” now stands for Zug instead of Zurich—will take place once again in Zug on August 12, 2026.
Graber Special Class Planned
As every year, there will be the classic categories organized by model year. In addition, we hope to honor a special anniversary: first, the 100th anniversary of Hermann Graber, one of Switzerland’s most important coachbuilders.
To ensure this special class can be held in a fitting setting, the participation of several vehicles is required. The organizer would be particularly pleased to hear from owners of vehicles with Graber bodywork and to have them participate . Registrations can be made on the Open Air Tours website.
MA-CH Assumes Patronage
The Swiss Mobility Archive (MA-CH) is serving as patron for both the Zug Classic Car Award (ZCCA) and the Ascona Classic Car Award (ACCA) in September. The “Concours d’Excellence” category, organized by MA-CH, is intended as a tribute to the historic beauty contests of the pre-war and post-war eras. The focus is on the aesthetic qualities of a car: form and proportions, color scheme, the elegance of the bodywork, and the harmonious overall appearance.
With this sponsorship, MA-CH underscores its commitment to promoting, preserving, and sharing our automotive cultural heritage. At the same time, we would like to encourage our members to showcase their historic vehicles to an interested audience at two exceptional events.
Iso Rivolta in Ascona
About a month later, on September 19 and 20, 2026, the Ascona Classic Car Award (ACCA) will once again take place on Lake Maggiore. There, the elegance of historic cars blends with the unique atmosphere and cultural life along Ascona’s lakeside promenade.
A highlight of the 2026 edition will be a special class for ISO Rivolta vehicles. With its elegant Gran Turismo models and extraordinary sports cars, the brand combines Italian design with high-performance technology. Owners of an ISO Rivolta, Iso Grifo, or any other vehicle from this brand are cordially invited to register for this special presentation.
In addition to a concert by the Cello Ensemble del Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana, participants can look forward to a reading from Daniel Speck’s novel *Villa Rivolta*, whose story is closely tied to the world of Italian automobiles. Registration for the ACCA is available here.
