Around a year ago, the renowned Swiss industrial designer Alfredo Häberli transformed a Porsche 356 SC into a unique work of art in cooperation with the Porsche Center Zurich.
On Monday, December 4, 2023, the vehicle was successfully sold by the Porsche Center Zurich of AMAG First AG at an auction by Koller Auktionen AG. AMAG First AG is donating the entire CHF 65,000 increase in value realized in this project from classic car to art object.
The check was handed over to the Swiss Children's Cancer Aid on Friday, December 15, 2023, by AMAG CEO Helmut Ruhl together with Sascha Leardi, Managing Director of the Porsche Center Zurich.
Swiss industrial designer Alfredo Häberli has created an art object from a Porsche 356 SC as part of this year's "The Weight of Lightness" art car project at AMAG First AG's Porsche Center Zurich. The artist, who was born in Argentina and lives in Switzerland, combines two key aspects in his creative approach: Poetry and precision, which he harmoniously combines through his Swiss-Argentine background. This collaboration has resulted in a combination of art, craftsmanship and sports car design.
Auction for a good cause
With this project, the Porsche Center Zurich is paying tribute to the historic art of coachbuilding.
The unique 356 was officially unveiled on March 31, 2023 at the Porsche Center Zurich in Schlieren and subsequently presented at various events and exhibitions.
As part of the "Out of this World" auction, the 1964 Porsche 356 SC was finally successfully sold at Koller Auktionen AG in Zurich on Monday, December 4, 2023.
With the restoration and design work, a sales price was achieved that was CHF 50,000 above the purchase price of this historic vehicle. AMAG First is donating this amount in full. The Koller auction house increased this donation by CHF 15,000, so that a total of CHF 65,000 was donated to the Swiss Children's Cancer Aid. In addition, a hand-painted design sketch by Alfredo Häberli, including an invitation to dinner together, was auctioned off for CHF 1,000.
This amount will be donated in full to Swiss Childhood Cancer Aid. "We are proud to be able to support both the Swiss art scene and the Swiss Children's Cancer Aid with our campaign," says Sascha Leardi, Managing Director of the Porsche Center Zurich.
