It's hard to believe, but just a few days ago the ten millionth Ford Mustang, a 2019 model White GT V8 convertible with six-speed transmission, was built. The first production Mustang (VIN 001) was also white and open back then.
Of course, the anniversary also had to be celebrated. To mark the occasion, 60 Mustangs from all model years came together and formed an impressive number for a photo shoot.
The Ford Mustang has been an American icon since 1964 and is the best-selling American sports car ever.
Here are some milestones:
1964: Presentation and start of series production
1965: Shelby GT 350 introduced, also Mustang 2+2 as fastback
1968: Steve McQueen drives the Mustang 390 GT in "Bullit"
1970: the Ram-Air "Shaker" hood is introduced
1974: Mustang II debuts
1976: Cobra II appears
1982: Mustang GT returns after a 12-year absence
1984: Mustang SVO debuts
2001: Mustang "Bullit" is launched as a limited special edition model
2004: 40 years of Mustang production are celebrated in Dearborn
2012: The Boss 302 returns, but with 444 hp
2015: The sixth Mustang generation is presented, with independent rear suspension
2018: The ten millionth Mustang is built
There is no end in sight to Mustang fever, the Ford people have cultivated their own legend well and they know how to keep the American "pony car" up-to-date and attractive.
We published a review of the first five generations some time ago.
