"GTI, what else?" will soon be the motto in the Autostadt: GTI clubs and interest groups from all over Germany will be presenting around 100 GTIs from different model series and generations on the Piazza forecourt and at other locations in the theme park - surrounded by a colorful program. The highlight of the weekend starts on Sunday at 2 p.m.: a joint parade of all accredited vehicles through the park landscape.
Armin Maus, CEO of the Autostadt: "For 45 years, the letters GTI have stood for innovation, sportiness and technical perfection and have generated enthusiasm among a large fan scene. For them, GTI doesn't just mean 'car' - it's a way of life. That's why I'm delighted that the fan heart is beating in the GTI anniversary year in the Autostadt and that many enthusiasts are coming together here."
If you want to experience the real Wörthersee feeling, you can get up close and personal with models specially made for the legendary meeting in front of the ZeitHaus - the Wörthersee GTIs from 2015 to 2021 will be on display. And best of all: Volkswagen apprentices - some of whom were involved in the development - are looking forward to exchanging ideas on site. Six vehicles from the Autostadt collection will also be presented in front of the ZeitHaus as part of an open-air exhibition. Also on display is a model from Volkswagen Individual, which was commissioned by fashion designer Mark Eley for the "Gumball 3000" rally in 2005 - the most powerful GTI to date with 240 hp.
A journey through the model history of the GTI is possible in the short-term parking lot at the ServiceHaus - generations I to VIII of the Golf GTI are on display under the LED wall. In the park, Volkswagen Classic will be showing other gems from its collection - in addition to the Golf VII GTI Clubsport S Rekord, there will also be a truly unique piece: a Polo V GTI Cabriolet.
The Autostadt Restaurants team will be taking care of your physical well-being with another Group classic: Volkswagen Currywurst, which will be available alongside other street food at the stalls on the Piazza forecourt.
Visiting the Autostadt is possible with a valid day or annual ticket. All guests are requested to observe the general hygiene regulations and rules of conduct - they can find out about the relevant regulations in advance of their visit at www.autostadt.de/aktuell.
