Exactly 70 years ago, Audi's predecessor company Auto Union GmbH was founded in Ingolstadt.
Even though Audi Tradition will be taking part in Retro Classic in Stuttgart (March 7 to 10) with a car this time, the classic car trade fair "Techno Classica" in Essen (April 10 to 14) is the traditional kick-off event in the annual program. Audi Tradition will be exhibiting for the first time in the new Hall 4 at the international exhibition for historic automobiles. The motto of Audi's trade fair appearance is "Space wonders - from the Schnellaster to the Avant". The focus will be on station wagons from various eras of the company's history.
At the end of the Second World War, the Auto Union seemed to be dead. Expropriated by the Soviet occupying power in its home state of Saxony and erased from the Chemnitz commercial register in 1948, the company no longer really had a future. However, such a future was to open up in the American occupation zone.
Founded from very small beginnings in 1949 in old military buildings in Ingolstadt in Upper Bavaria, Auto Union GmbH developed into today's Audi AG within 70 years. An anniversary that Audi Tradition is celebrating at the Classic Days Schloss Dyck and at the Donau Classic home event.
