On October 4/5, 2014, the fourth edition of the Michaelskreuzrennen will take place near Root/Lucerne.
Tradition behind us
The Gisikon-Root to Michaelskreuz mountain test ride already took place in the 1920s and 1930s, mostly for motorcycles. And it usually took place in summer, when the public presumably enjoyed warmer temperatures.
The mountain route from Gisikon-Root to Michaelskreuz is 3,420 meters long and covers an altitude difference of 305 meters. There are eight hairpin bends and a number of other bends to negotiate.
Four automobile classes
In addition to three motorcycle classes, there will also be four automobile classes at the start:
- C1: Veteran cars and cycle cars up to 1939
- C2: Historic racing cars up to 1939
- C3: Racing cars and vintage cars from the post-war period (limited)
- C4: Special vehicles, e.g. prototypes, special models, special exhibition objects (limited)
The event is not a race, but a demonstration drive.
Owners with suitable drivers can still registeruntil June 27, 2014; vehicles up to 1939 are particularly welcome at the Michaelskreuzrennen. Cars pay a moderate registration fee of CHF 250 including driver/passenger.
Bugatti Festival three years ago
Three years ago, the Michaelskreuzrennen took place for the last time and attracted many spectators to the hill climb with a unique Bugatti field.
