After a two-year forced break, Veterama Mannheim will finally be back from October 7 to 9, 2022.
The exhibitor spaces for this year's autumn Veterama, which has traditionally been held on the second weekend in October on the Maimarkt grounds for 49 years, are filling up day by day. It is already clear that every dealer space at Veterama will be taken when the visitor gates open to Europe's largest classic car parts market. Dealers and visitors from all over the world will once again meet in the city where the automobile was invented 137 years ago. But of course, two-wheelers from all eras will also be represented. After all, Karl Friedrich Drais von Sauerbronn laid the foundation for the development of individual transportation with the first ride on his wooden running machine in Mannheim in 1817.
Many exhibitors are currently sorting and preparing the parts they will be offering for sale in Mannheim. Visitors are already making lists of all the parts they are looking for in order to make progress with the restoration during the winter months. But anyone looking for a new challenge or newcomers who would like to try their hand at a well-preserved youngtimer "pensioner's vehicle" will also be well catered for. There will once again be several hundred vehicles waiting for a new owner on the "Veterama marketplace".
Unfortunately, there are no statistics on how many vehicles have been restored and are still roadworthy simply because Veterama exists. But one thing is for sure: many friendships have been formed on this vintage and classic car market that usually last a lifetime. This is because, especially in the mechanic scene, you need the right connections in situations where work on your own vehicle comes to a standstill. For this reason, Veterama has long since become the most important communication event for "the rustiest hobby in the world", says Winfried Seidel, who, together with Walter Metz, had the idea to create this event more than 50 years ago.
