On May 28, 2016, Galerie Fischer will be auctioning 23 exquisite classic cars at the Swiss Classic World classic car fair in Lucerne. As an experienced art auction house, they know what to expect from discerning buyers. The catalog has now been completed and the list of vehicles has been published. The total value of the 23 vehicles is around five million euros/CHF.
On new paths
It was not made easy for this auction. The history of all the cars was researched as far as possible, FIVA passports were applied for and the vehicles were thoroughly checked. The buyer should not be able to buy a pig in a poke, but a complete and extensively documented car; transparency is a top priority.
From A for AC to V for Volkswagen
The range on offer is broad and includes many specialties. Lot 17, for example, is an AC Aceca with the AC engine from 1955, estimated at CHF 165,000 to 185,000 (EUR 152,800 to 171,300). You don't often find a Mille Miglia Storico participant for much less.
The VW 1303 Cabriolet from 1979 is an even more affordable classic. The open-top Beetle is popular and is in very good condition, as the estimated price of CHF 34,000 to 38,000 makes clear.
Five Mercedes-Benz
Only one brand has more than two representatives at the Fischer auction in Lucerne. However, five cars bear Mercedes-Benz stars, the oldest of which dates from the 1950s and is a 300S Roadster from 1953, which was valued at CHF 650,000 to 850,000 (EUR 602,000 to 787,000).
The two sixties comfort sports cars 220 SEb as a convertible from 1962 and 250 SE as a coupé from 1967 are considerably cheaper.
There is also a Pagoda up for auction, but a very special rarity is one of only 502 Mercedes-Benz 2.5-16V EVO I cars built in 1989, which formed the basis for Mercedes' racing DTM successes and is now being offered at a fair price of CHF 65,000 to 85,000 (EUR 57,400 to 76,000).
The Porsche 996 of Martina Hingis
The Swiss tennis player won a red 996 Coupé with Tiptronic at the Porsche Tournament in Germany in 1997.
The sports car is not only of interest to Hingis fans, as it has a moderate estimate of CHF 22,000 to 28,000 (EUR 20,400 to 26,000).
Five pre-war sports cars
A trip to Lucerne could also be worthwhile for fans of cars built before the Second World War, as it is not every day that you can buy an Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Zagato (1930) or what is probably the oldest four-wheeled Morgan sports car still registered (4-4 Sport from 1936).
The Singer 1.5 Litre Le Mans from 1936 is also a rarity as one of just under 70 sports cars built, as is the Bentley Derby 3.5 Litre DHC from 1934 or the Delahaye 122 Brookland Special from 1933.
Open Ferrari delights
For those interested in Ferraris, Fischer has two vehicles up for auction: a 308 GTS in the US version, as driven by detective Thomas Magnum, and a particularly rare version of the Ferrari 365 GTC/4 from 1971, which was converted into an attractive convertible in England, something that never officially existed from the factory. At CHF 300,000 to 340,000 (EUR 278,000 to 315,000), this Spider is certainly one of the most attractive options for driving a Ferrari in the open.
For those who are happy with eight cylinders less, we recommend the Fiat 1600S OSCA Spider from 1963, which offers a lot of sunshine for considerably less money.
The vehicles can be viewed from May 27, 2016 before the official opening of Swiss Classic World. The auction will then take place on May 28, 2016 in the afternoon.
